Is there a program to strip sound off a film so I only have the sound and not the images?

yep, I think quicktime can do that :)

converting videos to mp3 is all it does, but its free and uncomplicated.

You can do this very easily with Virtualdub. You load in the movie and simply save the audio track out through the File menu. It should save as a WAV or as an mp3 file.

Use SUPER. Just convert it to an audio only format.

SUPER is the single greatest video/audio converter known to man! You must get it!!

QuickTime pro is good for anything like that, as someone else mentioned.

I use WinFF for all my conversions. It is very simple to use.
