What are your thoughts on Andy Richter as the new announcer on Conan?

Asked by evolverevolve (520points) June 26th, 2009

What happened to Joel Goddard (I think that’s his name)? His voice kind of bothers me, I wanted everyone’s thoughts.

I would love it if he starts getting more involved. Not so much if he just stands there.

@Bri_L he’s actually one of the writers as well.

Goddard was good, but he was creepy.

@eponymoushipster – Good to know. Now start doing stuff with him. Like when they had him dress in blue and shoved him in front of the weather map.

@Bri_L like when he was naked on the Today show set in 94 or whenever.

i think they’re still settling in, trying to figure out what works with the new set, setting and time slot.

too, he was the butt of jokes a lot when he was with Conan before (see the above, for example). he may want to eek out a different spot on the show at this point.

Wasn’t Andy Richter the first announcer he had years ago? I think it was Andy someone?

I just googled him and I swear that Andy is the same guy he used to have.

Don’t tell me I am the only one old enough to remember that.

@rooeytoo no, it is the same guy. he was the sidekick for the first 4 years or so. (the conan equiv of ed mcmahon)

@eponymoushipster – Thank you, it is nice to know my brain is not getting addled.

As I recall they made a pretty good paid, they did some good skits.

@rooeytoo yeah, they’re the originators of the “In the Year 2000” skit, probably the best known from the show (after Masturbating Bear).

i miss Pimp Bot 5000

I think they worked well together during their first stint, and would expect the same, this time.
