What happens if I plug a surge protector into a 220V outlet?

Asked by andrew (16543points) June 29th, 2009

I have a socket adaptor and a north american surge protector. Provided that everything I plug into the surge protector can accept and transform 220V, would that work? Or will the voltage destroy the surge protector?

You need to get a 220v surge protector for it to be effective on a 220–240 grid. I doubt it will last very long @ 220
