What would you call somebody who prepares for the future?

Asked by running4ever5 (118points) July 28th, 2009

not like a scientist who predicts when the world will blow up…but somebody who invests in his families financial future and thinks down the road not to have children at a very young age. I don’t know…just somebody who is PROactive instead of REactive. A characteristic name…

Smart. Responsible. Adult, perhaps?

My Dad, for one. Responsible, mature, foresighted, intelligent, adult, logical, smart, prepared, and wise are all options.

@Darwin : Would it be possible to be intelligent, logical, smart and still a flake about long-range planning?

Provider

@gailcalled – Certainly, but if you are a long-range planner then you could still be described as any of those terms.

gailcalled's avatar

@Darwin; True. I see intelligent as synonymous with smart, and mature a synonym for adult, however.

@gailcalled – I was offering a list of words that could be applied to a long-term planner, not a combined description. Any of those terms I feel can be used. Think of my answer as a thesaurus entry rather than a definition.
