How do you tag someone in a status on facebook?

I believe if you type in that person’s full name as it is on Facebook, they will be tagged.

I haven’t tried it myself, but I’ve been told numerous times to use ’@’

I would assume that also requires spelling out the person’s entire name as Facebook knows it.
