where do Astron basses come from?

Asked by anne_bacon (27points) December 18th, 2006
I love my bass, but I know nothing of its origins. I just googled it and found one site connecting it to Rickenbacker which has me about peeing my pants. Does anyone know where they actually come from? I was told long ago that they were made in the Fender factories back in the 70's.

Hmmm, curiously, it seems like Astron might have made electronic parts (e.g. capacitors) for amps and guitars and whatnot in a lot of vintage gear for Fender and others.

Hope that sheds a tiny bit of light.

Cheers!
