I live in Missouri, what time should i wake up on Tuesday morning to watch the Leonid meter shower?

Asked by lala1001 (40points) November 16th, 2009

The Leonid meter shower in the wee hours of Tuesday morning, I live in MO so I’m not sure what time to get up to see it. They say t will be at around 1 a.m., so I guess my question is do I apply to PST time or WST time? I know that MO is eastern but….... which one am I most close to?

In this link it says people in EST would have best chance between 3:30–5:30am.

Here’s the Fluther question from several days ago. Click on the link in first answer in order to get more info and a very good star chart. Right now (7:15 PM EST, skies are unfortunately cloudy. But I will check outside around 4:00 AM.)

It is looking good for us near Los Angeles:

Tonight
Clear. Lows in the mid 40s to mid 50s. Northeast winds 15 to 25 mph. Local gusts to 35 mph.

The trick will be to find a place with little light interference. We may need to drive to the beach.

Overdress and bring a thermos of hot something. Meteor watching is a chilly and damp business, but worth it.

I had to work outside last night till 1:30am. Based on the huge meteors I saw then, tonight should be fantastic!

Crap! It’s cloudy where I am. Will it be tomorrow night as well?

I watched the shower way out in the canyons north of LA. In addition to the little ones my friends and I saw two meteors so big and bright they left jet trails. Whenever an impressive one went by we all involutarily made strange sounds of amazment, none of which were “ooooh” or “ahhh”. It was more like “wrurah!” and “mron!”

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn’t heard of the shower until this question popped up in my fluther and it was well worth checking out.
