I just bought one of those 5th generation ipods. It comes with a charger, headphones, and a plastic looking thing. What is it for??

My ipod can fit in it…but it cant stand up with it…

Great question – I’ve always wondered this to – mine the generation before and came with it. I have no clue what it is.

I think it’s to put in the dock of the iHome or other iPod player to make it more snug for the new generation iPod.
Mine actually came with two, so I have a back up. I have no clue where the spare is, but I know where the one I’m using is.

Allie is correct.

It is so you can use it with old accessories. The new ones are smaller.

oh…hmm. :) okk. so it wouldnt really matter if this is my first ipod?

It would if you use it with old accessories. I would keep it but it is just there for a small subset of people. Tuck it away and use it if you ever need it.

yes, ill keep it, and if i get soemthign else, who knows it may coem to good use!

It’s for an iHome, or other such docking device, so that it sits on the dock properly. If you dont have a stand-alone dock, you dont need it, but I would hold on to it all the same. Never know what santa may bring :D
