Cat on my desktop?

Asked by seekingwolf (10410points) December 13th, 2009

I am starved for feline attention. :( All I have is a fish and I do love him but, well, he’s not cuddly, nor does he crawl into my lap.

So…instead, I want a cat on my desktop. Does anyone know a program (preferably free) that will allow me to do this? I think I remember playing on a hospital computer when I was 8ish that had a black/white cat that would respond to your click, do random things, follow your cursor and basically just exist and be cute.

I’m kind of looking for something similar…

Edited to add: I’m looking for a kitty that will be on the desktop. I don’t like the MS Word kitty. He’s unrealistic and just nods his head most of the time. :(

So sad! I know how you feel. Here’s a compilation of desktop kitty resources.

I remember that cat. I had him on my computer at work. I’ll be watching to see if anyone knows where he has gone off to.

This won’t work if you’re looking for one on the desktop, but there’s a really cute (and addictive) game called Petz 4 that you can get off the internet for free.

You can adopt little kittens and puppies, raise them, and breed them (and it’s pretty realistic, they have AI and walk around doing their own things, and the kittens/puppies actually look like a mixture of both parents, no matter how odd the couple).

You need to first download the demo (I’ll post a link as soon as I find it), then you download a program called PetzA which will upgrade the demo to the full program for free.

Milo here;

Funny you should ask. I may be available. Gail is upstairs right now as we speak; she is putting Bacitracin and a bandaid on a puncture would I just inflicted on her left hand.

What a nerve; typing while I want some peace and quiet on her lap. And I am very skillful at unplugging plugs secretly. She didn’t understand why she wasn’t connected to the Internet this AM. Heh heh.

(@gailcalled) @Milo:—you are one devious and clever feline!

My homepage is Google, and if you go to ‘add stuff’ you can find a black and white cat. It doesn’t do too much, but it will paw at your cursor if you move near his paw, he’ll purr if you rub his stomach with the cursor, and he’ll occasionally meow. He also follows the cursor with his head and eyes.
