How do I sell a cello in the bay area or seattle area?

Asked by sarahclif (135points) January 6th, 2010

I have a pretty cello that was around $3500 when I bought it 16 years ago. Are there stores in the bay area (preferably) or near Seattle who will buy this from me?

I’ve always had good luck with Craigslist, but as on any such site, you’ve got to be really careful to find out the buyer is legit. I NEVER sell stuff anymore to anyone outside my immediate geographical area.

Craigslist or Ebay. Though, if you don’t have an ebay account.. it is probably more trouble than you need to sell one thing.

You could take it to a music store and ask if they want to buy it. You probably won’t get as much money that way, though. If they offer consignment, you will probably get more money that way but it could take some time and the store will take a cut.
