Thanks but I paid $75.00 for these jeans and would really like to remove the gum

Freeze it with an ice cube and chip it off.

Thanks I’ll try that

Oil might help, too, but then you’ll have to figure out a way to get the oil out…

i may be mistaken since im dumb when it comes to these things and all, but why not the washer? I mean i get all kinds of shit all over my pants and it usually comes out.

@uberbatman I have washed clothes with gum, but what happened to my clothes is that instead of it being in one centralized location it becomes smaller bits and pieces stuck all over.
@pdworkin I do a similar process, but stick the whole clothing item in the freezer then use a butter knife to scrap. For the little bit still there I use dish washing soap and scrub together.

@uberbatman: Heat makes gum soften and spread. Ice hardens it.

Ice it. It will harden and should be removable.

Here’s a whole bunch of suggestions. I would guess, since there are so many, that none of them work great. The peanut butter method works, though, for a 4 year old’s hair!!!

Worst case scenario, if you don’t get all of it out, you can use this as an excuse to sew on a cute patch!

the ice/freeze it really hard people have the right idea I think, after that wash it with a little wisk poured directly where it was, I had gum on a shirt once and it left something that looked a bit like an oil stain behind after I removed it.

also if it’s really mashed in you might try scraping the inside of the jeans first to loosen anything that’s pushed deep/through the fibers, then chip away the main wad.

Lighter fluid. The kind you use for charcoal grills. My daughter lost the gum out of her mouth while napping on the couch and then layed on it for a few hours. It was mushed into the couch really bad. My mom told me to use the lighter fluid and it came out incredibly fast.

Orange juice based cleaning products will remove the gum quickly and without staining.
Some product names are D-Gel and Dissolve It.

Icing it is really the best option, however using an icecube was too tedious and slow for me, so I just put my pants in a plastic bag and put the entire bag in the freezer. I suppose you should watch out what kind of fabric you put in the freezer, worked for my denim jeans though.

Freezing or icing the jeans seems to be the way to go, but once they are frozen, you should try to gently scrape it off with a razor or knife.

try scraping it.
