I need a name of an old T.V. show...

Asked by XOIIO (18328points) January 10th, 2010

I was a japanese one, where an alien ship had crashed into earth and we used the technology to make fighting suits so we could fight back. There was also the “mothership” which had people in it and once it had to turn into fighting mode and almost destroyed the city. I think there might have been the word “mecha” in the name. What is it?

“Mecha” basically means “robot” in Japanese. You don’t say whether the show was live action (think Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers) or anime. However, this site has a list of some of the Mecha shows.

One possibility in the anime classification is:
Robotech (Streamline). Classic soap opera and alien invasion TV series featuring transforming mecha. The English version is a compilation of three different Japanese series: Macross, Southern Cross and Mospeada.

Live action possibilities include:

Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future (TV). Battlesuit team fights robot overlord.

Gunhed. A US-Japanese attempt to bring anime-style giant robot action to the big screen.

Does anything at this site sound familiar?

You can apparently download one free episode of either Robotech or another, similar anime here. And there are numerous Robotech episodes available for download for a fee here.
