How can I superimpose an image onto a photo ?

I have a picture of my aunt and I would like to make it look like she’s wearing Napoleon style hat,how can I go about doing so and what type of a program would I need?
*Presently I have Gimp & Infaview

You can get a free 30 day trial of Paint Shop Pro X by clicking here. There are tons of tutorials online, for how to use the program.

Once you learn how to do photo editing, it can become addictive, so be warned ;)
