I want to enter the photography competition, any help?

I really want to enter it…
So I have the http://www.photographyblog.com/images/sized/images/uploads/olympus_fe_4000-550x374.jpg. I got this camera as a Christmas gift. I haven’t been using it a lot so I really don’t know how to change everything and stuff.
Can you guys help and tell me maybe how to take good pictures and all that.

There is a lot to know, most of which I am clueless about I’m sure.

You don’t need to be a good photographer to enter a contest; you just have to be willing to pay their fee.

Start by getting something in the frame in focus. Read photography forums. Read the manual @Rarebear dug up for you and learn how all the features work. Look at the work of other photographers. Take a class. Just start using it. That’s what I did. No one on Fluther is going to have the patience or time to explain everything.

Just be sure to read about the basics: composition, depth of field, f-stop or aperture, shutter speed, and ISO.
