You Just Don’t Understand by Deborah Tannen is now a classic study of the different ways men and women use language to communicate.

Hmmm, you are looking for ways to improve the communication with your significant other, but is he/she? That is really the question.

The most valuable book I’ve read is, “Now Discover Your Strengths” by Marcus Buckingham. It includes a link to a self-assessment put together by the Gallup Organisation that lets you know what your top 5 Strengths are out of 34. My fiancé and I both took the assessment, and it has given us insight on how we are hard-wired and helped with our understanding in how to appreciate each others’ differences. But it doesn’t really impact our communication skills. They are what they are.

And you can always refer to rebbel’s Translation Dictionary. It is spot on..

This book. Yeah, it’s a textbook, but it’s probably the most amazing textbook you’ll ever read. Honestly it’s probably one of my favorite reads. Also if you really wanted to get it, shop around on amazon and such. I’m sure you can find it for like $40 and below.

Women are from Venus and Men are from Mars. It helped a couple I know work things out in their marriage and they were on the brink of divorce.
