DSLR users: What are some of your favorite reference materials (online or off)?

Asked by prolificus (6583points) June 13th, 2010

I have a Nikon D3000 and I have recently finished a beginner’s class on digital photography. I’m looking for reference materials for tips and tricks to all things digi.

What are some of your favorite resources?

Hands on. Get out there and photograph nature. You’ll learn a lot by experience.

For Sony/Maxxum try Dyxum

For Nikon/Canon try Fred Miranda

For everyone else try DPreview

Those are good for equipment and forum questions. But to see great images, try http://www.photographysites.com/. But Dyxum has a lot of awesome imagery as well.

I personally find the best reference material to be on Flickr. There are so many groups for specific techniques and results. I find everyone in the group to be very helpful when you have questions you may think are dumb or not worth asking. The folks on Flickr are also super supportive and encouraging. Even if you just have a free account they are all happy to help.
