Needing a pick me up ... any of you out there have any ideas?

So I just got in to work for a 16 hour shift. And right now I am feeling deflated. How about some ideas for what gets you going when you are like this? Or if you have something to share that you think will do it immediately put it here.

A whole, raw, habanero pepper.

Go for a swim in your favourite swimming hole (or the closest) and get in touch with your body.

Do you drink a lot of water? Water always helps me feel a little energized. If nothing else, it may make you have to pee a lot, which would keep you awake, lol. Also, you could reward yourself with snacks. Get through 4 hours and you can have some trail mix. Another 4 hours, have some peanut butter crackers. Do you have a way to listen to music or take a cool shower?

Coffee.
Sugary candy.
Going for a quick run. Especially up and down stairs.
Barbell squats. (Carefully – proper technique is important for safety, so you need to be able to concentrate.)

I assume what you mean is you want to stay awake.

Clearly my hot pepper idea is not making inroads. And since you’re working I’m going to assume you don’t have access to a weight room and shower.

So I’ll offer my next best solution: Get a ping pong ball and cut it in half. With a black magic marker, put a black dot on each half. Wedge the halves into your eyes like you would a monocle.

Then take a nap.

I keep a Funny Bank in my brain for just such an occasion. I think of all the hilarious things that I’ve seen- but wouldn’t be funny unless you were there. I close my eyes and replay them in my head, then laugh at them.

Also- the internet. Tons of funny stuff out there.

For instance, I just played a game where someone dressed as a storm trooper walked out of a lake. Storm troopers are not normal for this game. Just hanging out by a lake- boom- storm trooper. isn’t that always the way?

A relaxing bubble bath with candles to wind down the mood. Get into bed and watch one of your favourite dvd’s. Oh, and eat something yummy. :)
