Need advice on how to use wakeup on lan?

Asked by silviuzz (6points) June 26th, 2010

Hello,
I have activate the wakeup on lan option from bios but the computer starts every time a package is recived.
My question is how to make my computer wakeup only for specific packages?

P.S. I’m behind a rooter.

Many thanks.

You don’t. The problem here is that your router and other devices on your network send out heartbeats and other packets, and your BIOS doesn’t really have the smarts to discriminate among them. That’s farther up in the TCP/IP stack, and the OS has to be loaded in order to figure out where they came from and what they’re for.
