Are suburbs in Mumbai still facing the water problems?

Asked by versatile (26points) July 23rd, 2010

Water is necessary for survival. We have water supply 24/7 and so we don’t really care much about it but there are lot of places in Mumbai itself which face water problems even today.
At some places there is water supply on alternate days whereas some get water for 2hrs a day and at few places the water that supplied is contaminated. Are Virar and Thane one of these areas which face water problem as compared to other parts of Mumbai?

You might find some information here:

I became aware of Sunita Narain’s work in India when she won the Stockholm Water Prize in 2005 and my father in law had the pleasure of presenting her with the award.
