Know any good Middle Eastern type music?

Asked by cthulette (177points) September 9th, 2010

I know there’s probably a more accurate term to describe what I’m looking for, but I’m ignorant, so I’d like to know where I can find some good Middle Eastern music. I’m looking for mainly instrumental music, but pop-music (like Ahmad Zahir, the only example I can think of) is okay, too. Thanks!

There is this video that I’ve found on youtube and I think it’s what you’re looking for. It’s instrumental (violin only) and it has a very mystical feeling to it. Here’s the link:

If you like it, his youtube channel is filled with many other Middle Eastern violin songs. Enjoy!

Shakira’s Los Ojos Negros is a pop song that has a mid east beat. I can’t get the link to work, but if you go to the top YouTube on this google page you can hear it. I am just getting used to this iPad and I cannot figure out how to copy links from YouTube.
