(NSFW) Any ideas on this weird vaginal discharge?

Asked by circuitbreaker (117points) September 28th, 2010

It isn’t really a dischage, but it looks like dead skin when I wipe myself after going to the bathroom. You know how sometimes if you rub your arm after a shower you get dead skin on your hand? Thats what it looks like.
Its also a bit itchy around the sides where my thighs meet my skin.
I haven’t ever had sex before, so it isn’t an STD… I hope.

Although I’m new, isin’t this question supposed to be grouped as a NSFW? or so the guidelines say.

Have you considered going to a doctor? One who is qualified to look at and diagnose female complaints? You are aware that we cannot see, nor do we wish to, and even if we could, not that many of us are gynecologists, right? Soooooo, how ‘bout making an appointment? Feel free not to share your diagnosis afterwards, mmmmkay?

@Trillian ; theres no need to be rude about it, geez.
and I was just asking because I don’t have health insurance and I cannot afford to go to a gynecologist.
sorry for bothering.

Go easy on @Trillian The advice is pretty good.

@josie; there still is such a thing as tactfulness.
I guess I just would have answered it differently.

If you can’t afford a doctor then go to the health department. Asking strangers on the internet about your vaginal dischrge is not a good idea. I reserve the right to decide where to use tact and where it is wasted. You brought up a subject that leaves tact completely out of the equation.

Look up yeast infection at mayoclinic.com. You can buy Caneston otc first and if it doesn’t work, you should go to a clinic.

You probably have a yeast infection. Go to the store and get some Monistat and if that doesn’t fix it, then it’s time to find a free/cheap clinic and put your legs up in the stirrups.

It’s a shame that inquiring about genital issues is considered tactless. If the question was about weird discharge from her nostrils would it still be “tactless”?

On the subject of medical questions posted on Fluther, why are people so against it? There’s a big difference between seeking a solution to a medical problem from strangers on the internet and simply asking if anyone else has experienced the problem and what they did to resolve it. I have asked health questions before, and I will again.

Edification is not a bad thing.

@FutureMemory : You just took the words out of my mouth… kind of creepy. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with it either, but maybe different people have different versions of “internet etiquette”.
I guess great minds think alike, right?

@FutureMemory I’m not against people asking for medical help on the internet – it’s a great way to figure out if you need to see a doctor, or just put some OTC cream and a bandage on it. I am, however, not a fan of when people want the internet to be the doctor, and for whatever reason, refuse to go get a doctor’s help when it’s what’s needed. Seriously, I’ve seen some questions about how to set their own broken bone and what prescription antibiotic we would all recommend for strep throat that they could then “pick up at Walgreens” without a prescription. The internet can’t diagnose something for you, nor can it prescribe something for you, so stop insisting that it will.

@papayalily I agree 100%.

“What did you do to handle this issue?” = good. Gathering info from others experiences is a smart thing to do. It could point you in the right direction.

“What did you do to handle this issue, because if it worked for you then of course it will work for me! Tell me what to do!” = bad.

Could be eczema…Sorry, I am new to this btw. But it could be eczema, since you said DEAD SKIN. Don’t know…
