Will the Google ad change if I buy the product?

Asked by windex (2932points) October 1st, 2010

So whenever I search for a specific item to purchase, the Google ads specific to that product start showing up in place of random ads.

If I purchase that product by clicking on the ad, will the ads related to that product/service change? Will Google know only if I use Google checkout or they don’t even take that into consideration?

I was searching for something online a while back, but I bought it offline. And had to keep looking at the same ads.

Google doesn’t track what you actually buy, at least not in the way you’re talking about.

They may report “conversions” to the website owner if they’re set up for that, and they’ll track your purchases through Google Checkout for you to view later, but as far we know, Google doesn’t actually track your purchases for anything related to their search ads.

So, you’d still see the ads even if you made the purchase after clicking the ad and with Google Checkout.

That happens to me all the time. I like seeing the beach, so whenever an ad bothers me, I do a search for Beach Resorts, and the beach ads show up instead.

@YARNLADY – that’s funny.

I hate it when you’ve already purchased something on Amazon but they continue to market the same product to you.

I’ll have to start making a bunch of fake searches of “desirable” products to repopulate the search history.

If you want to get rid of most of the ads you normally see, this program is good. I’ve used it on Firefox, and I think there’s a version for Chrome.
