I rather like fluther sans avatars - less distracting. Reminds me of the good old days. Vous?

Actually, I kinda want them back. I find my old postings by scanning down the page for my avatar.

And all you need is lurve.

JmacOroni's avatar

Nope. I find the broken image way more distracting. I also use the avatar pics to navigate threads, as well.

I associate other jellies with their avatar more than their name, so it’s quite distracting for me.

It is distracting.

Now, erich can’t see that glorious arse.

nnnnnnNNNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I like the avatars – the lack of separation kind of hurts me’ eyes. ;-)

I don’t like the little red Xs : | we all look like strange clones…
Of course, I’ve only known an avatared Fluther, so it’s weird for me.

I let the pictures become like faces. Now that I’m having to read everyone’s name for every post it’s a little harder to keep track of who’s saying what.

What did Fluther used to look like? I’ve picked up it didn’t have the Lurve system or awards way back when; I didn’t realize it didn’t use to have avatars either. How different was it?

seazen's avatar

@DancingMind It always had avatars – I meant the feeling of the old days without the awards and video arcade atmosphere.

Oh got it thanks : ]

I’m confused

Fluther is a video game?

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I don’t like it. I look for the avatars of people I’m familiar with and normally id them by the picture first.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

No, I like the avatars. They let me know a lot about the person.

El_Cadejo's avatar

I identify people by their avatars rather than names. This is really annoying to me.

Yay! They’re back!

janbb's avatar

I guess I missed something. How would you all have known it was me without my beautiful portrait?

augustlan's avatar

I hate when avatars go wonky! Thank goodness it’s fine, now. :)

It was rather difficult reading the posts of @Adirondackwannabe and @Fiddleplayingcreole bastard during that time…

filmfann's avatar

It’s funny. With the avatars, and the familiarity of the writings of the contributers, I have developed voices for eveyone, so I hear each with the voice I associate with them. I am not sure I could do that with just the contributer name.

(yes Zen, you sound like Picard)

JmacOroni's avatar

@filmfann I wonder how accurate they all are. It would be pretty funny if you got even a few that were really close to the jelly’s actual voice.

seazen's avatar

Oh well then, make it so.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

@JilltheTooth What made it difficult to read our posts?

JilltheTooth's avatar

@Adirondackwannabe : Your long user name overlaid the first few words of the post, made it hard to get what you were saying.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

I should have picked a shorter name, but it sums me up pretty well.
