Did you miss Fluther, if Fluther went offline in your area several hours ago?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) August 11th, 2011

I don’t know about other areas, but here in the West Fluther seem to be offline from about 9:30p until after 3:30a PST, that I know of. If Fluther went down in your area, did you miss it? I know many people were probably sleeping and never missed it. If you noticed it was down, offline, what or how did you work around it, to not to notice it was down? I spent more time on YouTube then I cared to. Wonder if that was a planned maintenance thing?

I saw the Facebook post about it, but had no problems with it. I was up at 4:30 PDT, and had no issues, I slept through the outage.

@Hypocrisy_Central Do you live in Arizona? I don’t know anywhere else in the U.S. on Pacific Standard Time right now.

Yup, it was down here too (Holland) this morning.
Missed it a bit, but there is other things that I can do, so I did.

Seelix's avatar

I was sleepin’, so I didn’t notice.

Nope. I wasn’t near a comp, then.

Ever since the FB “tide pool” group has opened up, it seems that the activity is drifting that way anyway, more as a social thing than fulfilling Fluther’s Q&A intent. So it has seemed to be “going down” as a natural evolutionary thing anyway. If this group isn’t growing and getting more active, then it’ll decline. Nothing stays the same for long in nature.

I usually check in before work in the morning and it was down, this was about 8am UK time, so about midnight over there.

Oh, the horror! I had to spend the evening hours…doing…something…else!

Blueroses's avatar

Yup, it was down.

Having to use the internet without being able to access Fluther was like riding around in a fast car without a seat belt. Thanks to the Jellies in facebook chat, calm was maintained and nobody got hurt.

It drove me crazy, personally. I had things to do (work-wise) and couldn’t do them, so I was really restless. It was a problem with our hosting site, and I’m glad it was fixed by the time I woke up.

Yes, because I had written out this nice, thoughtful answer, and then I couldn’t mofoing post it!!

I kept trying and trying to Fluther, but it just wouldn’t work for me. I thought it was my wonky laptop again.

I had company til about 11 pm PST and yes, I couldn’t connect with fluther, but, it was bedtime anyway, so, a non-issue for me. haha

Edit: Oh no! wrong question! lol. No, I don’t think it would affect my life as I usually migrate from one site to another sites, doing many things.

I didn’t miss it as much as I was frustrated. I was in the middle of little arguebate or a debatement with someone and I couldn’t finish while I was still all worked up about because fluther shut down on me. And now I can’t get seem to myself all that riled about it anymore. I’m a little disappointed. ;-(

I actually spent an hour cleaning the bathroom because of the downtime. It was a rough night.

I knew I wasn’t going crazy, I knew there wasn’t large alien motherships blocking my Fluther link, I just knew it!

Last night was the one night I decided not to check fluther before going to bed. Weird.

I got home from work and I like to relax for a while by fluthering. Alas, no fluther. There was @Blueroses and @KatetheGreat and Neffie (can’t remember how to spell her fluther name). So, it was fine. Then I watched TV, did my knitting (finished the back!!! YAY!!!! It’s okay @YARNLADY, your empire is safe. This is the first piece of knitting I have progressed so far with for years. Tonight…sleeves!!! Then .. I went to bed.

Thank you @Yarnlady. You may regret offering. I am so proud of myself. I promised my husband I would make him a jumper though and I have done a front with a cable pattern and the back. This is amazing for me .. madame butterfly! :-)

lillycoyote's avatar

@Bellatrix Tonight… sleeves!!! Tomorrow the world!

Bellatrix's avatar

lol indeed. I have told him… you will wear this jumper from now on .. winter or summer!!! A jumper is perfectly reasonable in 40 degree heat!

(Gulp). A sweater? In this heat? I think I’m gonna go faint somewhere…
