What is your favorite song?

Asked by LezboPirate (1289points) February 23rd, 2012

For me, my favorite song varies from day to day, or week to week. However long it lasts. Right now my favorite song is I Want To Be In Love by Melissa Etheridge.

Right now? Man, I think I had the same answer the last time this question was asked. Two songs I can’t get out of my head and they are related to swans???...

Forget The Swan – Dinosaur Jr
Jim – Swans

Touch of Grey – Grateful Dead
or Terrapin Station

Right now, it’s Etta James’ I Just Want to Make Love to You.

@jazmina88 Count me in DeadHead land…excellent tunes! Don’t forget “Ripple” and “Franklins Tower.”:-)

I’m a 70’s music fan, but, currently, in the last year I really love Greendays 21 Guns album.
I especially like the drums in “Know your enemy.” I’m a closet drummer ( have drums ) and the other day I popped their CD in while driving and had to control my drumming impulses on the highway. lol

Mine changes frequently. I mean I have some that rise above. But I just decided in the last like 15 min that this is my new favorite song of the moment after I watched this sweet time lapse of this dude painting this sweet picture I found while going through my backlog of art to look at on deviantart. lol.

Art time lapse thing with the song!
A Real Hero by College feat. Electric Youth Just the song.

Right now, it’s Hangar 18 by Megadeth, or West End Girls.

For now it’s Tendencies by Hollywood Undead it’ll be different tomorrow.

It changes with the season, like most everyone else, heh. Currently, I’ve been listening to a lot of Tyler, the Creator’s music, and even though I’ll probably never be a big fan of rap, he’s just terrific. Parade, along with the rest of his work, has been playing on repeat on my iPod for some weeks now.

At this moment it is I’ve Got This Friend by The Civil Wars.

I have recently fallen in love with them.

Currently, most of my faves are from Abney Park, but it’s a bit hard to pick just one. After about a dozen albums, there are many to choose from. Probably Under the Radar

Kardamom's avatar

At this moment in time, it’s Blackbird by The Beatles

or Hallelujah the version sung by K.D. Lang at the 2010 Olympics.

@Kardamom: “Blackbird” is a great song. Check out Dionne Farris’ version. It’s pretty cool.

Mama_Cakes's avatar

Not so much a song, but, a sound. I’m really into Basement Bhangra right now.

Kardamom's avatar

@cprevite Thanks, I just did : ) Kind of jazzy by way of the bayou.

I have about two dozen songs that are right there at the top and those two dozen rarely change, but I can never pick just one favourite from them, because they’re all favourites for different reasons.

jazmina88's avatar

@kardamom Excellent choices. Blackbird is a top 5 for me.
and so is Hallelujah, but for some reason, KD Lang’s version makes me cringe.

gondwanalon's avatar

“Wooden Ships”, Crosby, Stills & Young (1969)

According to Lastfm, once I account for the inflated plays of songs on my cardio playlist, my favorite song is Massat. Seems reasonable. It’s definitely one of my favorite metal songs.

google translate, you crack me up.

I love Halleluja but for me it has to be Jeff Buckley. (RIP)

Sea Song by Doves. My taste in music changes with the weather, but this one is a constant.

DaphneT's avatar

Orinnoco Flow done by Celtic Women, Rainin’ Men by the Weather Girls, One Night in Bangkok from Chess, Meatloaf has few good ones for housecleaning…

@Blackberry I saw Megadeth with Motorhead last month. I disagree with Mustaine’s political/religious views, but holy shit, when he played “Holy Wars” that night, I had fucking tears in my eyes.

This Celluloid Dream by AFI

It was the first song I ever learned to play on guitar and it’s been my favorite song for almost ten years.

Ezekiel 7 and the Permanant Efficacy of Grace by The Mountain Goats.

My favorites vary constantly. Sometimes it’s Enya, sometimes it’s Viking metal, but I’m loyal to Industrial, so here is Honour from one of my fave Industrial groups, VNV Nation. Been listening to them for ten years +, and I totally love this song and never get sick of it.

No One by Alicia Keys

It varies from week to week, but this week it’s “Must Have Been Love” by Roxette.

Forrest Gump Theme by Alan Silvestri

@Symbeline one of my top songs is Beloved by VNV Nation

It’s a damn fine song. I love their calmer songs as much as the more hyper ones. Illusion for example, I totally love.
