Brahms, Beethoven and Bach. Not necessarily in that order.

Almost any music except techno and heavy metal should be fine. Perhaps not Stravinsky’s “The Rites of Spring” either. Play something you like.

GAWD @Seek_Kolinahr!!!! I just got up! I’m also awake now! Thank you so much. grumble grumble Savannah’s asleep. She didn’t flinch. Kale about jumped out of his play pen!

I think I’ll go with….Wild Wood Weed.

Sigh. Scarborough Fair.
More coffee.

Oh, but it was AWESOME to see him dance in his car seat. Little legs kicking all over the place…

His current favourite

Grrrr. I’m trying to get them to sleep!!!!!!! Guess I should have mentioned that part, huh.

Oh. Well in that case…

Here are some of the lullabies:

(I promise, no more metal)

Watership Down – Art Garfunkel Bright Eyes

Barenaked Ladies: When You Dream

Peter Pan: Tender Shepherd

I am not opening that @ragingloli, whatever it is! Not till the babies have cleared the premises!

Ah. Thank you Seek!

Dakota is guarding the dickens out of the babies!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Ha ha! I put the dogs out because Dutchess was barking. While they were outside I relocated one of the babies to another room on the floor on a blanket. Then I let the dogs in. Dakota was quite worried until she found Kale. Then she slurped him. Then I put some furniture around him. :)

Seriously Genesis A Trick of the Tail works great, at least it did for my daughter. And also Beatles Revolver.

One’s down, other one’s starting to fuss.

Hurr Durr response: The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, and other “good” bands my generation doesn’t listen to >:( (Thumbs up if you agree)

Real response: Four Tet

Well, yeah! I’ve been singing songs as things come to mind. The bathroom was all hot and steamy so I sang, to the baby in my arms, “Open up the window sucka! Let me catch my breath! Momma told me not to come…” It’s been a long time. :( :)

All is quiet. Choking down some Wheat Chex. O. Better up date that other thread.

My teenager listens to hip hop (and a variety of other things…) so we compromised when the baby was born and played this (don’t automatically rule it out…).

There are baby versions of other genres of music by the same company as well.

The little one is 16 months old now and falls asleep every time we play it in the car.

Wow. Somehow I wound up on a sequence of Simon and Garfunkle songs, one after the other on auto play (which is good cause I got no free hands!) I don’t know about you guys but those two, their voices together are pure magic. The twins think so too. As soon as the harmony starts they both stop whatever they’re doing…eating, pooping, fussing…they just stop and start looking around. If they’re doing what I do they SEE that music in the air, the harmony weaving in and out, hanging, shimmering in the air. (No I’ve never done acid!)

Wow….a singer named Suzanna Vega came on singing a song called Gypsy came on. Never heard of her, but it’s soothing and peaceful and the refrain is….get this….“Hold me like a baby who will not fall asleep.” LOL! And there is “Silence” by S&G of course. And the Moody Blues. They’re asleep.

And do not disregard these two hours of Ika Musume

Dutchess_III's avatar

Disregarded! Sorry @ragingloli!

Dutchess_III's avatar

But because! They can learn that silly nonsense with their friends playing video games! Gamma gonna teach them some class. Humph.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Much better. Thank you. :)

Dutchess_III's avatar

They’re gone. I am totally EXHAUSTED!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

LOL!!! Thanks for the laugh, Raggie! :)

You must have the coolest kid ever!! ;0)
I actually really like Goatwhore. My son? Hell no. Nothing heavier that Iron Maiden for him, please. lol

There’s nothing as soothing as the human voice. Think of all the nursery rhymes you ever knew; any song you enjoyed yourself that doesn’t make you dance; songs you sang in Girl Scouts or other groups. It’s more effective if you hold the child, but not absolutely necessary. Humming is good too.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yeah, @Sunny2. Holding is good. I like it. I held 5 of them throughout their babyhoods. But when you’re holding one, who is finally cooing and happy, and the other one, the twin, who is left Lonely and Sad on the blanket on the floor, fires up….well. I. am. tired!
I hummed so much at The Other Twin On The Blanket On The Floor (and the rotation changed often) that my butt is numb.
