Can you think of any brands that have so sucessfully cornered a market that we refer to all products of that type by the brand name?

Asked by El_Cadejo (34610points) July 8th, 2013

I was bored at work yesterday so I started thinking about this. I was able to come up with Jello, Q-tips , Band-Aids, Xerox, Plexiglass, Kleenex, Ziploc, Aspirin, Vaseline and Lysol.

Can you guys think of any others?

@Dutchess_III I always think of Ajax as the name for scouring powder!

Ajax, it makes your mouth turn blue, Ajax, it smells like Elmer’s glue…oooh, maybe Elmer’s is another answer?

I grew up with Comet in the house also, but I knew what Ajax was and we had a patty cake song for both.
