What do you speak at home?

Asked by BerlinRose (194points) November 4th, 2013 from iPhone

Hello,

I asked myself what mutts or just people with a different background (like me) speak at home. My whole family is from Germany, we’re living in England since october, but just for a while. We’re speaking usually German, but sometimes also English at home (We always talking in english outside). My boyfriend is born in England, but he’s ¼ Dutch and ½ French and at home they mostly speak a mixture of English, French and Dutch. (Of course not outside, nobody would understand).

So, my question is, what are you speaking at home?

Thank you :)

My wife speaks English to me and our daughter and Italian to her parents.

We speak English, but since I have a daughter learning Japanese in high school and I happen to speak it, we use that on occasion.

My mother’s parents were both from Mexico, but she grew up speaking English at home, although she learned Spanish too.

I learned Spanish baby talk when I was a toddler because I lived in Columbia and a houseboy to care for me. But I don;t recall any of it. I was raised only speaking English.

English. I’m the only one in my family who isn’t fluent in Italian so I’m working on that.

I do ‘Puppy speak’. I have two beautiful, sweet puppies that understand me perfectly. Sometimes I sing and dance for them. Poor things.

I live alone with two dogs. I speak English to them and to my dear wife who lives in the USA. We were never able to overcome the obstacles preventing us from living together.

English, usually. My daughter is in a Spanish language immersion program, and I speak some Spanish, so some conversations are in Spanish, but it’s usually English, American style.
