Do you get nervous using ATMs?

Asked by Hypocrisy_Central (26879points) April 26th, 2014

If you get nervous using ATMs is it a general nervousness not encumbered by location, time of day or surroundings, or does your nervousness comes from the time of day you use it, the location (not in the front of the building or in sight of walking traffic, etc.), who is around or near the ATM, lurkers who might be trying to steal your PIN, etc.?

Nah. I don’t use them much anyway. All I have is debit, so I can just get cash back.

I don’t have the energy to live a fearful life.

I don’t use ATM’s except for a couple times for my aunt. It makes me a little nervous. I feel vulnerable to whomever might want to rob someone that day.

It has never occurred to me to be nervous about using an ATM. I’m with @Judi on this one.

We are talking about depositing a paycheck….I earned that paycheck and depositing it in an ATM is a walk in the park compared to what I had to do to earn that paycheck. It is almost orgasmic to use that ATM to deposit my paycheck….in fact if I were not married I would propose to my ATM.

No, because I haven’t used an ATM in 23 years (since I got married). I never need cash. My wife does all the shopping which she claims to love doing and she also makes sure that my wallet has plenty of money in it to buy gasoline with. If there is something that I want, I just tell my wife and she buys it for me.

Being familiar with the tools used to steal PIN’s and card numbers, I like to nonchalantly check before use, just in case.

Usually at night, especially if I see a car nearby or people lurking by. Sometimes I avoid making a withdrawal in certain circumstances if something in my environment doesn’t seem right. My rural area has started seeing big city problems moving in.

In the U.S. I don’t but when using an ATM in Europe I get very nervous.

If someone wants to rob me of my $1.63 they can have every penny of it.

No but I was once called back by the next guy in line but only because I’d foolishly left my cash in the dispenser.

Why is that?
