I sleep in and order a pizza and talk to my mom.

Talk to a friend or my partner about whatever is making me unhappy. Go for a walk. Do something I love to do to take my mind off things. Listen to happy music.

It depends on why you are sad. Are you feeling a bit down or are you depressed? If you’re depressed, speak to your doctor. If you’re just in a bit of a funk, do something you love to help you to get out of your blue mood.

I just found out that the only way I can fight my depressed feeling is not to do anything. I just let it take over me and experience it fully. The feeling will eventually subside, and then I will do things to entertain myself while waiting for the feeling to disapear altogether. If it comes back again then the cycle will repeat.

I have to do something productive, or I end up doing something destructive.

So, I paint, or go pull weeds, or refinish my kitchen table, or something like that.

Gorge on junk food while gorging on junk TV.

Figure out why I feel that way and then resolve those issues.

I play my guitar or I think about next summer at the beach or sometimes I feel completely different after a good sleep. I usually end up counting my blessings and being thankful for what I do have.
I hope you feel better. : )

Pop in the VCR Old Yeller and at the end of the movie have a good cry and then contemplate how silly I was to feel sad in the first place.

I go out for a long walk, preferably in the countryside. I do some good thinking while I walk and come back in a lighter mood. In fact, this has made me decide to get out there now. even though it is raining!

Road trip or otherwise find a complete change of place.

If you search for tourist attractions in your area, there are probably things within spitting distance that you didn’t know were there/have failed to visit. Interesting distractions or easy sources of ‘wonder’.

Or get a $1 loaf of bread, and go feed the ducks. :-)

I know depression. He is an old adversary of mine and I know how dangerous he can be. When I feel his warm breath upon the back of my neck, I get busy. I accomplish something—anything. It doesn’t have to be important, but self-satisfaction will chase him away like holy water to the devil.

Get more rest, pamper myself a little, maybe a massage or a hot bath, call a friend, vent, sit in the sun in nature, play with my pets, remind myself of the temporary nature of all things, and sometimes I drink wine or smoke a little greenery. lol

Music. Fortunately, I lack the sense to be depressed (or so I am told). Which brings up a point worthy of a question.

The old joke, of course, is “If you’re feeling down, milk a cow. Feeling down is how you milk a cow.”

I distract myself with something creative and absorbing.
