Gonna be a close race between coffee and a moderately priced sparkling white…If I can find a good sparkling white based on the chard grape…yah, I could go there. Or maybe a nice Spanish cava.

Coffee is a for sure. Coffee is ALWAYS a for sure around me…

JLeslie's avatar

Water or caffeine free coke.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Ever hear of Yukon Jack?

Pachy's avatar

Non-alcoholic, as always.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

What fun is that???^^^^^^

JLeslie's avatar

^^Some of us don’t need to be drinking to have fun.

ragingloli's avatar

Bear Grylls’ favourite drink.

Mimishu1995's avatar

I could have made myself a nice matcha cup, but I used up all the matcha supply because I couldn’t help it. Nothing to drink here.

imrainmaker's avatar

Water as always.)

JLeslie's avatar

Never ceases to amaze me how many jellies don’t drink.

ragingloli's avatar

@JLeslie
I do not like the taste, and I do not like the detrimental effects on perception, mental clarity, and body control. There is literally no positive aspect to drinking alcohol.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

Probably ice water or tea. I might have a gin and tonic, but it’s unlikely.

JLeslie's avatar

@ragingloli I don’t drink. I just don’t bother. I don’t like the possible negative consequences either, and the waste of money. I have fun without it, so why do it?

Pachy's avatar

Hey, @SQUEEKY2, I don’t like the taste of alcohol or how it makes me feel, and I certainly don’t need it to have fun. I celebrate New Year’s with good friends, good conversation, good food, fun games—and not a drop to drink makes any of that one iota better. I don’t object to others drinking as long as they don’t drive under the influence, and you know what? they don’t object to my NOT drinking.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

HEY @Pachy I AGREE especially with the drinking and driving part.
Winter with my job stresses me out a bit so I do drink a bit more in winter than I do during the warmer weather times.

I’m pretty sure this is just a light hearted question. There seems to be some that are very disturbed by this question. Move on to another question folks. It’s just a question.

Sneki95's avatar

Well I hope I will get my hands on some wine. I don’t usually drink, so I can take some for the holiday.

kritiper's avatar

Same as always: hot chocolate. As for booze, mine is vodka and tonic.

Earthbound_Misfit's avatar

Hot chocolate. Yum. I have some Spanish hot chocolate in the cupboard. Thick and delicious. Not sure how enjoyable it will be in this heat though. Enjoy your hot chocolate @kritiper.

Cruiser's avatar

I am going all out with fresh squeezed cranberry juice and water over ice crushed with a 5 lb mallet drizzled down my wife’s….

LornaLove's avatar

Mine will be tea! I am a recovering alcoholic, now 29 years. One day at a time!

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

I have a huge stash of Cuban añejo dark rum. It’s all I have. I’ll toast my country and the world with that.

jonsblond's avatar

Stella Artois

at home, as always

jca's avatar

For the majority of the evening, I’ll expect I’ll be drinking caffeine free Diet Coke. Probably at the New Year I’ll have some champagne. I may have a glass of white wine at some point. I have to drive home so that limits things a lot, plus I usually have a decent time without drinking. Alcohol makes me feel bloated the next day too so I usually try not to drink it.

@SQUEEKY2: My family used to have Yukon Jack for fun times. When the Yukon Jack came out, you knew it was party time. I’m not into drinking shots but I might sip some.

Patty_Melt's avatar

Sparkling cider.

Pachy's avatar

I miss hot POSTUM. Anyone else remember it ???

anniereborn's avatar

Slippery Nipples (Butterscotch Schnaaps and Bailey’s)....heaven!

flutherother's avatar

It’s a toss-up between a glass of the Laphroaig I got as a retirement present and the can of Irn Bru that’s sitting in my fridge. At the moment it looks like it will be the Irn Bru.

Cruiser's avatar

Congrats on the 29 years @LornaLove

ucme's avatar

Budweiser all the way, I only drink at xmas & new year so it’s my little treat.

ucme's avatar

@ragingloli Does for me as an infrequent drinker who has no interest in getting drunk or obsessing on alcohol content, leave that to the macho pussy boy knuckleheads.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Rum n Diet Coke.

Cruiser's avatar

@ucme I am very intrigued as to why you choose Budwiser as your alcoholic beverage of choice if and when you only imbibe twice a year???

Would it be because of this or this or I highly suspect this ;)

happy new year old man

abcbill's avatar

I amend my earlier answer to the extent I found a reasonably priced bottle of Korbel Brut to match DB’s bottle of Prosecco.

My mug of coffee is sitting next to my wine glass. We don’t own Champagne flutes or tulip glasses…

Happy New Year, all… We are at six hours and 45 minutes here on the East Coast…and counting..

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
May the days ahead be very good ones.

From a quiet place in the Atlantic Standard Time Zone.
Signing off. G’Night and see you next year.

TJBM is still waiting for New Years Eve to end.

Rarebear's avatar

I had a Sierra Nevada Coffee Stout.

jonsblond's avatar

It was Moosehead.

I’m a Star Wars obsessed, football loving and beer drinking Midwestern blonde. What a great impression I’ve made.~

Sneki95's avatar

Happy New Year Jellies! I hope it will be better than the previous one.

TJBM is enjoying the first day of the new year.

Mimishu1995's avatar

Sure, I’m enjoying myself :)
TJBM thinks this thread is turning into a new TJBM.

Sneki95's avatar

Lol I saw Corvus’ answer and thought this was TJBM. Didn’t even notice. I even wanted to remind @Rarebear and @jonsblond to leave TJBM answer. :D

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

LOL. It was a mistake. I thought this was a TJBM thread when I posted. It was a long day yesterday and I was barely awake when I posted that at midnight AST. Went right to bed immediately afterwards.

Judi's avatar

Cough syrup

SQUEEKY2's avatar

Prescription cough syrup? @Judi if so that will get you quite buzzed.

chyna's avatar

Feel better @Judi !

ucme's avatar

@Cruiser Your intrigue baffles me, I mean why any beer?
I loved that brand as well as Stella Artois & a delicious local brew called newcastle brown ale, this was back when i’d drink every weekend, although moderately, a few years ago.
Decided to cut right back to just xmas & new year as part of my fitness regime which saw me lose 40lbs, reach the same weight, 11st 7lbs, as I was as a late teen & throughout my twenties & thirties & have never felt or looked better.
So you see substantially older man, neither one of your reasons came close, think purer, simpler terms next time maybe.
