Do you ever flag comments and/or questions here?

Asked by Cruiser (40449points) January 14th, 2017

Yes, no, maybe so…never. If you do or have flagged a comment/question…what are your metrics you apply to where you feel you must flag the offending question/comment? While I am asking…how many of my comments have you flagged?

I lost counts years ago. I just can’t stand spams.

Only spam, I don’t think I’ve ever flagged a personal comment or question.

You mean this one?

I flagged a few spam questions, and a few answers that were way too over the line. I flag only on my threads, or at least I don’t remember flagging posts on any other thread.

I don’t think I’ve flagged more than ten posts in total.

Usually when they’re not in the right place, or if it’s spam.

@ragingloli Have at it rags.

I flag all of your answers.~
I flag spam and sometimes when a post goes really off track in general.

Yes for spam. Other comments and questions, yes for spelling and yes for people being trollish (stupid, childish comments by new users like about sucking weiners and stuff like that), and yes for people just being plain nasty to each other – flaming. Rarely with the flaming because Jellies are for the most part, not that nasty to each other.

For people’s opinions and stuff like that, no, and no, nothing that I can recall for you, @Cruiser.

I flag all of your responses @Cruiser. As soon as I notice one, I hit that “Flag as…” button.

Seriously, yes I flag. I flag spam, trolls, posts I consider bullying, or attacks on the person rather than the idea being floated. Moderators can’t be everywhere. I know when I was a mod, I was thankful for people who flagged. When I came online I could go straight to any problem areas. The mods need us to flag, not only the spam but content we feel is inappropriate or breaks the rules.

I actually don’t think I’ve ever flagged one of your posts @Cruiser.

@Earthbound_Misfit I would not hold it against you if you did flag a post of mine. Hell I have flag more of my posts than I can count! ;) I too was a mod at another site and it is exhausting work and had to throw in the towel to maintain my sanity. Is that an oxymoron?...Cuiser/sanity??

I’ve flagged a shitload of spam in hopes that it would get me a Robot Crush award, but either they don’t give that out anymore, or I’m wrong in assuming that is how you get one. Now it’s just a habit.

I’ve nailed one guy here. He wasn’t here long, only three days, and I would like to think that was because of me. This happened just recently. For nine years I’ve refrained from flagging anybody. I don’t consider myself enough of a paragon of good taste to judge others so harshly as to request that they be silenced. It doesn’t sit well with me.

But this guy, jesus. I had been gone a few days. I went to a few interesting questions and, on almost every one of them, there were these one liners by same guy who appeared to be obsessed with anal sex and fellatio, telling people suck his cock, fuck him in the ass, that sort of thing. I suddenly got very protective of this site. I like it here. I don;t want a bunch of assholes to start showing up and change it into another Sodahead, or for it to become so disgusting that the owners will shut it down.

So, I tracked down every one of his 46 replies—- all of them profane—and flagged them until Neptune showed up. LOL. Whoever was moderator that night must’ve thought I’d lost my mind. I think I did for a moment.

But that’s probably the only time I’ll ever do that. There are plenty of people here that will do it for me.

^ I flagged that guy’s account, I just remembered. He was way too obnoxious.

I cannot count how many comments I had to flag, questions and spam I don’t bother with. My criteria is simple, if someone insults me in a most ingenious way with venom and malice; guess I have to flag more than I wish less the napalm get let loose.

Espiritus_Corvus's avatar

So. You’re the guy.

Hypocrisy_Central's avatar

Are you the guy?

ucme's avatar

I only flag responses that, if I had made, would have long since been removed.
Done rarely & only then in a vain attempt at seeking some sort of consistency in the process.

MrGrimm888's avatar

I’m almost exclusively on a phone. No ability to flag…

If I could,I’d probably just flag spam…..

filmfann's avatar

Yes, to any of those spam questions.

Kardamom's avatar

Yes, for spam and possibly trolling. I flagged one yesterday.
