As I'm not so versatile in English, could you explain to me what this sentence means?

I don’t mean a translation. Just an explanation in English. Might be an unusual request, but to me it’s important. Thank you in advance for the help. So, the sentence is the following:

“Global warming seemed to have been human-engineered away.”

For the record, it’s taken from a novel.

Through technology and innovation, humans have overcome global warming.

Is it a science fiction or fantasy novel?

That re-wording lost the “seemed to” part, and added the word “innovation” which was not in the original sentence. (And it changed the tense.)

I might offer, “It seemed like human technological efforts to stop global warming had succeeded.”

E` sembrato che gli efforti umani abbia riuscito…”

“Seemed” is important. Meaning “it looks like it happened”.

It seemed to be. It appeared to be. Which is different from “it is”.

@Zaku I interpreted “human-engineered” as “technology and innovation” to make the meaning clearer. I think that’s valid. You’re right about my leaving out the “seemed to” part.
