Do you think prisoners should be able to demand organic food in jail, like the Trump terrorist?

The Judge ordered that the guy be given organic food in jail.

What do you think?

Stupid. Organic is just as good as regular. Not essential for his well being. It’s not like he has food allergies or religious restrictions.

@ragingloli Infuriating!

No, I read that too about him getting organic food and it made me angry. Apparently, his Mom complained that he wasn’t eating because the food wasn’t organic.

ragingloli's avatar

And they have the nerve to call liberals “snowflakes”.

Reminds me of Anders Breivik, the Christian Terrorist that murdered 77 people in a Norwegian youth camp, who complained about his prison conditions (here is a picture of a Norwegian prison cell), because, among other things, his cell was “poorly decorated”, and he only had a Playstation 2 instead of a PS3.

They should have called his bluff. Just like a petulant kid, if he gets hungry enough he’ll eat.

He should be put on Trump favorite former Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s prison diet. Two meals a day, peanut butter sandwiches and bologna sandwiches.

@zenvelo – organic PB&J?

zenvelo's avatar

@RocketGuy Just PB, no J. On heavily processed white bread.

I’m sure the Trumpers have the same concern for migrant families in their concentration camps, right? I wouldn’t want a Nazi domestic terrorist to have anything other than the finest cuisine. After all, he might need the energy to go murder Democrats one day.

Give him nutraloaf and say it’s organic.

There are rules about Kosher and Halal food – not that these rules are always followed, but courts are supposed take into account the religious practices of the prisoner.

But organic food – as opposed to something religiously connected- I wouldn’t think there’s a good case for that.

Organic no, but meet dietary needs, including religious, health, or vegetarian diets within reason yes.

He hasn’t eaten since being arrested, so his mommy went to court to say he has a very sensitive tummy & his system won’t tolerate anything but organic food.

janbb's avatar

@LadyMarissa Yes, and apparently he’s some kind of Shaman so he needs it. ~

Dutchess_III's avatar

He’s some kind of toddler.

cheebdragon's avatar

….Yeah, who cares if he has severe food allergies. Let him die, he’s probably a nazi anyway (I can’t prove he’s racist, but it feels true and that’s solid enough evidence).~

If the prisoner can get a M.D. to sign off on the request then ok.

And I find it hilarious that some so-called “organic food” is just normal food that is deceitfully branded as organic and gets a higher price tag. I wonder if his stomach is able to detect that :P

RocketGuy's avatar

Some organic foods contain more pesticides than regular foods, but it’s naturally occurring so farmers can claim that they did not add it to the soil separately as “chemicals”.

longgone's avatar

My first reaction was that it’s a ridiculous example of entitlement, much like a prisoner demanding caviar and expensive wine would be.

I’ve since thought about it some more, and I’m less certain now. There are many reasons to buy organic food. Some believe it’s healthier because practices such as preemptive antibiotics in livestock feed or excessive use of pesticides are illegal.

There’s also a moral argument to be made. Animals raised on organic farms suffer far less than those in conventional ones. There are rules about how much time outside they are required to have, there’s space requirements and enrichment. I live very close to an organic farm, and their geese roam the pastures and get to hunt for insects most of the day. They are not being force-fed, and they don’t spend their lives crammed into cages, hacking away at each other from stress.

If a prisoner believes that it’s morally wrong to support inhumane farming practices, is that less important than a person of faith declaring that their religion bans pork? Isn’t that also just a belief?

Dutchess_III's avatar

Wait…he’s indirectly responsible for 5 humans dying, and scores of others being injured, but you’re going to give him credit for having compassion for farm animals? Does not compute.

longgone's avatar

^ No way. Just looking at Jake Angeli makes me angry. He’s obviously caused tons of damage, and I don’t believe that he magically gets sick from eating all non-organic food. I have more opinions, but they’re all pretty mean, and I don’t actually know that he’s as arrogant or as entitled as he looks. So that’s all I want to say about him.

But it’s also important to note that we allow even convicted murderers to refuse pork or coffee because their deity is so inclined. That doesn’t seem consistent. What do you think?

In a nutshell, I’m interested in the difference between beliefs, and religious beliefs.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I don’t think he is doing ot for religious reasons. It’s a preference I think. Just a fad.

zenvelo's avatar

He’s not “doing it.” His mother is. He lives at home with his mommy. His mommy is the one that spoke to the judge.

^^ Have fun shturming the castle, boychick!

elbanditoroso's avatar

Suppose his mom had said “no hamburger, only T-bone steaks and truffles for my boy”. Would that be considered an acceptable request that the court should grant?

Call_Me_Jay's avatar

@longgone Just looking at Jake Angeli makes me angry.

How about like this?

longgone's avatar

^ Hehe. I like it!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Exactly @elbanditoroso. Is all of this because sissy boy’s momma had a fit?

AKA: QAMORON Shyster.

Today on the news (NBC), they said he’s requesting a presidential pardon and he said Trump sent him to the Capitol that day.
