“Kampai!” from Japan

“Salud y pesetas!” from South America (and short for a phrase that means “May you have health and money, and time enough to enjoy them.”

Thanks guys! I knew I could count on you.

Jews would say “L’Chayim” and clink glasses. It means “bottoms up.” Shalom is a lovely word but would not be used in that context.

JLeslie's avatar

Lechiam means to life.

Here’s to you. Here’s to me. Forever friends we may be. But if we ever, disagree. Fuck you. Here’s to me.

JLeslie's avatar

@Blondesjon you’re in a punchy mood tonight.

gailcalled's avatar

@JLeslie: Literally, you’re right.

Blondesjon's avatar

@gailcalled . . .i’ve always considered myself more of a judy. . .

JLeslie's avatar

@gailcalled I didn’t know we were being illiterally or unliterally, or aliterally, I have no idea if any of those are words. It can also be to your health like salud.

@Blondesjon: Have you been at the cooking sherry again? It was JLeslie.

How can you mod another mod’s question? Unacceptable.

I like clink. Because that’s what you do, clink.

JLeslie's avatar

I just thought of another possibility. Live long and prosper.

Sometimes, in the right group of course, I say:

@tinyfaery: Which mod is mod modding?

“Be salamati” : Farsi for “Good health to you”

@Darwin: What part of South America? I never heard that when I was there (and I did my fair share of drinking). We always said “salud” or “chin chin”.

tinyfaery's avatar

@gailcalled @The_Compassionate_Heretic told you to “stay on target…”

tinyfaery's avatar

@gailcalled I have no idea what that means.

gailcalled's avatar

@tiny: (—I am not a mod.)

gailcalled's avatar

@La_chica_gomela:Salud, amor,dinero y el tiempo para gastarlos ( o gozarlos)?
