What was that (horror/thriller) film called?

Asked by Anatelostaxus (1428points) October 12th, 2010

I’m actually not even sure whether it was an old dream of mine or it actually was a film.
Rough description:
eerie especially towards the end.
I just remember some details of the last scene:
A father, mother, son (and perhaps a daughter as well) are standing in front of this lantern on the floor, inside a lighthouse.
The lantern then speaks! (speaking especially to the male child) saying: ” I am your grandfather”.....blah,blah,blah…etc..
(I think the ‘possessed lantern’ was trying to persuade the child (all of them really) into doing something, or dissuade him from doing something..
Anyways, the lantern gets thrown out of a (broken) window and shatter to the rugged, rocky ground on the shore.
That’s all I remember.
This scene has been stalking me for ages, so please help me find out whether it exists somewhere outside of my mind or not.

XD

Is it possible it could be a book? It’s been a while since I’ve read this, so I very well could be wrong.

@talljasperman no, it was far earlier than 2003…. “argh”!

@augustlan mmm… i’ll look in to it.. but, no… I’m quite positive I saw it, rather than read it.
