The score that doesn’t even need the movie because it’s so moving by itself.

Soundtrack from the movie Love Story.
Just about each soundtrack of the album was a hit.

Soundtrack from the original Rocky.
Agree with @john65pennington about Love Story.

I have a few that I like but one that sticks out for me is the Titanic soundtrack. I prefer the music to the actual film.

Two scores from the Inception soundtrack by Hans Zimmerman. He also did music for The Dark Knight.

erichw1504's avatar

I second @Blackberry‘s answer. The entire Inception soundtrack is amazing. The Dark Knight ST is also great. Hans Zimmer’s resume is insane!

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

@Vunessuh There is a remix to that done by an electric string quartet

syz's avatar

It’s not a score, but my favorite soundtrack is from Gross Point Blank

Vunessuh's avatar

@Aesthetic_Mess Oh wow. I love that! Thanks for sharing!

Aesthetic_Mess's avatar

@Vunessuh No problem. I love that band (quartet).

The soundtrack for Chocolate is perfect for setting the whimsy and magic of the story.

I love The soundtrack for Queen of the Damned.

erichw1504's avatar

@JustJessica Ah, yes. A classic!

I third @Blackberry and second @erichw1504 I loved Inception and the dark knight.

Clint Mansell’s work or Hans Zimmer’s, I can’t choose between them!

erichw1504's avatar

His name is Hans Zimmer!!! Not Zimmerman.

Winters's avatar

@erichw1504 whoops, I was talking to a couple of old wrestling buds of mine one of which has the last name Zimmerman, didn’t mean to throw on those extra 3 letters but my fingers do not obey the will, lol.

Blueroses's avatar

@Winters I share your problem. I can’t get the extra ‘e’ off of Chocolat

Requiem for a Dream is uber cool, but i’m liking this also. Great movie too, which is nice.

Hands down for me is Out of Africa. It musically describes what it is like to feel the experience of a new discovery that is bigger than my mind can fathom all at once…something that is beautiful and peaceful.

Anything by Bruno Coulais. Specifically, my two favorites are Coraline and The Secret of Kells.

Blackberry's avatar

@JustJessica Oh yea, thanks for reminding me. I’m going to listen to that again.
@erichw1504 Oops….Zimmer..

The Braveheart soundtrack
Any of the Twilight soundtracks Please don’t kill me… I just love all the music from those movies!

Blueroses's avatar

@WillWorkForChocolate You’ve used your one fluther-allotted Twilight reference. I used mine yesterday

O Brother Where Art Thou might have had the best soundtrack in the history of film.

Also, the total lack of soundtrack in No Country For Old Men was a bold and compelling move.

Oh yeah, and the soundtrack for The Big Lebowski kicked mortal ass as well. Man, those Coen brothers bang out some movies with some spectacular soundtracks.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

@Blueroses LOL! Damn, we only get one? Seriously though, There’s some great music on there. Radiohead, Linkin Park, Muse, Paramore, Florence+the Machine, Bat for Lashes, The Killers… I could go on. But I won’t. I’ll just say even the people who hate the movies might love the soundtracks.

chyna's avatar

@crazyivan Did you like No Country For Old Men? I hated it.

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Oh Oh Oh!!! I also need to mention the music from Lord of the Dance.

@WillWorkForChocolate I enjoyed all but the last 15 seconds or so. I feel that way about most of their movies.

GladysMensch's avatar

Neil Young’s score for Dead Man

crazyivan's avatar

@GladysMensch I love that movie. The soundtrack is down right surreal and every time I watch it I enjoy it a bit more.

Any James Bond theme song!
