How do I stop my crazy dogs from digging holes and running away?

Asked by stevenb (3836points) April 4th, 2008 from iPhone

how can I stop my dogs, or what causes the to dig nine million holes in my yard. My wife and I take them for walks, play with them, give them tons of love, lots of toys, etc. They still digs holes to lay in non-stop, and try to dig out under our fences all over. I have tried all kinds of things, but the turkeys still dig and dig and dig. Help me Fluther!

This isn’t an answer. I don’t know how to help… but your tags made me laugh wonderfully.

Well one you either train the dog or 2 you invest in invisiline fencing and shock collar.

Bury mousetraps

build a sandbox or sandpit for the dog to dig. put treats in it so he will only use the safe area. correct them when digging where its not wanted and direct them to their spot. some dogs (mine) are going to dig. encouraging, yet controlling the behavior is going to be the best solution for you and the puppy.

You need to call Chuck Norris.

F*#*in’ Chuck Norris!! Just kidding! Thanks for the answers. I may try the sand box trick. I have been burying poop in the holes they have dug and filling them back in. They of course just dig in another spot. I dont think I could buy enough mouse traps. Thanks again everyone! Any more good answers Flutherites?

There is only one person that can help you. Ceasar Milan:The dog whisperer.
I’m serious. He is amazing.

I second Jaybee. There’s a ton you can learn by reading Ceasar Milan’s books.

I know I learned soooo much personally.
