Which gym should I choose in manhattan?

Asked by kitty_cat (12points) January 25th, 2011

I am trying to decided whether to join New York Sports Club or Crunch gym. Both memberships are the same cost through my work and both memberships provide access to all locations. Both gyms are located very close to my apartment and my job, and both gyms offer the same array of classes at equally convenient and inconvenient times for my schedule. Both gyms also offer saunas. Does anyone have any insight as to which gyms are better as a whole? If you can provide specific insight on the Upper West Side NYSC and Crunch locations, that would be great, but it is not necessary.

If I could make this decision without doing trials at both gyms, that would be great.

Look at the reviews here I don’t think the Upper West Side of Manhattan is so different that if you ask someone who is familiar with the various options that you aren’t going to be able to give you more details than online reviews. Maybe someone here will pop on and give you a better answer but you asked your question 12 hours ago an no one has answered. Do you have a Y near you and would there be any reason not to choose that? I have friends living on the Upper East Side and they have been members and they and their 4 children have used and been very happy with their local Y system/facility for the past 25 years. That’s all I know. In then end, only you can choose what gym suits you and your purposes best and that very well may require that you actually go and check and test them out. Do any of the gym you are considering have trial memberships? You should make use of those if they do.
