Do you have any Fluther regrets, Part II?

Asked by jonsblond (43706points) January 29th, 2011

I asked this question in Sept. 2009.

What have you done here at Fluther that you regret? We all make silly mistakes, right?

My most recent Fluther regret is taking things/people too seriously. Not having internet for over a month helped me realize how silly I was being.

Nope. Life is too short to get bent out of shape over stuff that happens on the interwebz.

Yes, I do. Yesterday I swore, once again, that I will absolutely not spout off about things I really know very little about or actually nothing about or spout off on and about things when I have nothing to offer but attitude, and this time I really, really mean it. So I guess I regret spouting off about things in the above mentioned circumstances. I don’t have specifics, the incidents are too numerous for me to mention, too numerous for me to have really even kept track of. But I’m not doing anymore, I’m not doing it ever again, I swear. I mean it this time. And then there are all the other things I regret, but the above is what I’m focusing on right now. I can’t possibly delineate all my regrets, in fluther or, of course, IRL. I choose not to wallow in regret. It serves nothing so I don’t keep a running tab. It would be too much for me to deal with.

@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard I wish that this question was about things I’ve done on fluther that I’ve been totally pumped about and don’t regret at all, because if it was and if I remember correctly I once made a comment that made you spew Yoo-Hoo out of your nose and all over your monitor. I don’t regret that for a single moment!

If I have offended anyone, especially during the manic part of my BP – I am sorry. It’s funny, well not really, but when I’m on the down side I tend to get more mushy and soft, empathetic and sympathetic – the “real me” comes out – I think – and when I’m high – especially when it’s combined with other factors which I shan’t mention right here – I can get nasty. I usually regret it very quickly and end up telling Lisa about it in a PM and feeling shit about yet another jelly I’ve offended. I wish I was better. I wish I was more like Daloon.

@seazen I adore you @seazen. You have never, ever done anything to me, at least, that you should ever regret. Though, I do have on little, lingering issue dearest, and I am PMing you about it as we speak.

Get a room, you two!! I regret drunk fluthering- I swallow stupid pills along with the wine.

anartist's avatar

@seazen? You, offensive? Nah. You BP? Surely you’re joking Mr Seazen.

Me I regret times I feel I ave over-confided.
I am somewhat uncomfortable afterwards.

Are we talking about digital harassment?

lol :P

None at all. Coming out about being transsexual was a big step but I don’t regret it one bit. Everyone’s been so accepting.

seazen's avatar

@anartist You can call me Zen. ;-)

Oh man. I’m way too open and honest to be using my actual name and photo. Seriously considering a new identity around here.

I don’t really regret anything so much as I am sometimes made keenly aware of my taking troll-bait and I’m not just referring to new, stupid users, but also older pissy users who like to bait me and it can sully my enjoyment of fluther for a little while.

Since my mom joined, there are one or two things I am worried will bite me in the ass that I posted before she even considered joining but I have told her this and she has agreed to not go fishing in my question and answer archives. :)

At night, I do lie in bed, tossing and turning, wondering what might have been if I had seduced @Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard when I had the chance.~

My only regret is I still haven’t learned how to juggle otherwise no regrets!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I feel like I need to clarify what I said up there. Not because I mind what my fellow jellies know about me, rather what internet searches on me might drudge up.

I regret that sometimes I read a question so quickly I skip over some pertinent details and my answer is inappropriate. One I can think of is someone asked where to find Mac make-up and I thought they meant Mac computers.

I regret spending far too much time on Fluther, rather than spending time attempting to learn to swim .
But I really do enjoy my time here!

gailcalled's avatar

I find that fluther is a lagniappe in my life (I’ve been waiting for a chance to use that word. Thank you, @jonsblond)

SavoirFaire's avatar

I’ve let a couple conversations get out of control, and I’ve judged a little too early in some cases (even if one of those judgments turned out to be completely accurate). At least one instance was salvaged and turned into a happy moment for all involved. Still, they were unfortunate occurrences that were at least as much my fault as they were anyone else’s. All part of the learning process, though, just like the callouses on a football player’s feet.

I can tale a cheap shot for the sake of a humorous quip. I do regret it but I’m sure I will do it again; my mind just goes there. Now the regrets I have on other peoples’ behalf…....

anartist's avatar

@gailcalled thank you and @jonsblond for that word!

seazen's avatar

@gailcalled That was a bonus gift as well, darlin’: I had to look up said word for the pronunication – though I knew the “g” would sound like a “y” – but what I found was intriguing – for it is – in fact, an Americanism – which is rare to find. Plus two factoids: it can also be spelt sans “i”, i.e. lagnappe, and this nugget:

“We picked up one excellent word—a word worth travelling to New Orleans to get; a nice, limber, expressive, handy word—‘lagniappe.’ They pronounce it lanny- yap. It is Spanish—so they said.” [Mark Twain, “Life on the Mississippi”]

And I only had to travel to my keyboard fluther.

No. Regrets are for old people and emo kids.

bob_'s avatar

…But then again, too few to mention.

rooeytoo's avatar

@janbb – good one, I’ll second your response! Sometimes I just can’t help myself.

@jonsblond – hey welcome back, missed you and yours!

jonsblond's avatar

@gailcalled You’re welcome. I learned a new word today, thank you.

@rooeytoo Thanks! Good to be back. :)

@Blondesjon So, does that make me old or emo?

Dog's avatar

Yay!!! @jonsblond Is back! :D

jonsblond's avatar

Thank you @Dog :)

Why am I whispering? This is MY question!!! :P

seazen's avatar

Shhh. Why you yelling now?

jonsblond's avatar

@seazen I’m old and emo. That’s what ya get with folk like me.

seazen's avatar

@jonsblond I’m degenerate and decrepit. Show me some boobs pictures to distract me, please?

seazen's avatar

Are they wearing socks? I think that was a new one for me. NOT!

Buttonstc's avatar

@zen

Socks? Of course not. Unlike Playboy models and such not, the attributes shown off by Blue Footed Boobies are ALL NATURAL, what God and nature endowed them with :)

janbb's avatar

G-d – I love me them blue-footed boobies! They get my juices flowing.
