Web browser doing funky things with videos and ads?

Asked by Soubresaut (13714points) February 6th, 2011

It’s kinda hard to explain, but my IE9 has started to, and just on some (usually animated) ads and some videos, decide to play them from the top left corner and over the regular screen, however far that is. I can’t control the videos and can’t hit the close button on the blinking, glitchy advertisement.
It’s very irritating. The space on the web page where the video was supposed to go is white. So is the ad space, sometimes. Sometimes there isn’t a space for the ad, though, it’s just a stand-alone ad in my way.

I have no idea why this is or how to fix it, but I’d like to fix it. It’s interfering with me going to many sites (luckily not Fluther!) and crashing the browser all the time.

Anyone have a similar problem? And/or a solution?
Thanks!!

I think the most comprehensive solution is to stop using IE, and use either Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.

I use Firefox with Ad Block Plus, and I’m not having any such trouble.

@Brian1946 haha I was afraid I’d hear that from someone ; )
I’ve never had problems with IE before and I like it otherwise so I’d like to keep using it…
but if there’s no fix then I guess I’ll hafta switch. >sigh< change… : /
