How to setup a Wireless LAN connection?

I’m gonna play Diablo 2 tonight with some of my friends, and i want to create a LAN-connection using only my laptop. I’ve heard that this is possible, and even that it’s quite easy to do, but i can’t seem to find the right information on google. Also i don’t have any internet connection where i live, is that a problem? And what about different OS?

So you don’t have a router? There are software packages that allow you to setup a dhcp server but honestly I wouldn’t use them to play a game… collaborate on files maybe… but if you are using your laptop as the host and you are also playing on it.. talk about bog down on resources I don’t care how powerful your laptop is.

If you’re going to do it wirelessly and you’re all going to be in the same room you can create an ‘ad-hoc’ wireless profile. It should be an option when you create a new profile. Then everyone else can connect to it when they see it’s name pop up.

If you’re all in different places (i.e. not in the same room/house) then lack of Internet will be an issue.
