PC or Itunes is nor recognising ipod?

When I plug the ipod in it charges but it doesn’t show up in my computers or Itunes, how can I fix this?

Update iTunes, maker sure the connector is plugged in all the way. It iTunes started when you plug it in?

Are you using windows 7? In which case you should try running itunes in compatabilty mode for Vista service pack 2.
