What is a female bro?

WTFRIG!!!!

You’ve probably heard the word “Bro” used liberally at your local bar or gym. Perhaps you&39;ve even seen it recklessly confused with “dude” or “guy” in an adventure themed soft-drink commercial. Maybe even you yourself have unwitthingly tossed out a “Bro” when asking a stranger for the time. But an important distinction must be drawn: just because a guy is a dude, doesn’t mean that dude is a Bro.
Q: What is a Bro?
A: A Bro is a person who would give you the shirt off his back when he doesn’t want to wear it anymore. A Bro is a person who will bend over backwards to help you bend someone else over backwards. In short, a Bro is a lifelong companion you can trust will always be there for you, unless he’s got something else going on

Q: Who is your Bro?
A: Your mailman is a Bro, your father was once a Bro, and the boy who mows your lawn represents the Bro of tomorrow, but that doesn’t make him your Bro. When someone has faithfully upheld one or more of the codes in The Bro Code, then you may consider him you Bro. Warning: Exercise caution when bringing home a hot chick-your brother may or may not be you Bro.

Q: Can only dudes be Bros?
A: You don’t need to be a guy to be somebody’s Bro, provided you uphold the moral values contained within this sacred canon. When a women sets a guy up with her busty friend, she’s acting as a Bro. And if she sets him up with other hot friends after he slept with the first one and never called her again, then shes officially his Bro.

@redfeather E for effort…...:P

Y’all aren’t getting the point. It needs to contain the word Bro, but be styled toward a feminine version.

AshLeigh's avatar

@Schroedes13 how would a sixteen year old hear ANYTHING at a local bar? ;)

Not to piss on your fire but you should call them by their first names if your that close to them. That’s the respect you should give the ladybros out there.

My answer to “What is the proper name for a female bro?” is: Try using the first name maybe?

P.S. I find the whole Q&A thing, pretty darn tasteless. Maybe I’m taking this too seriously, you caught me in a sober mood but still. Why would you do this? I’m not in on the joke.

Schroedes13's avatar

@everephebe But I don’t call my male bros by their real first names! I say Broce Springstein or George Brombalopolopoloolpoolis!

MacBatman31's avatar

Bro-stral Cycle. Only once a month.

Well… I don’t get the question either.

I understand that bro is supposed to be a term of endearment in this case. However it’s a sexist one, informed by patriarchal notions, despite it’s ‘good’ intentions.

Of course I don’t go in for nicknames or pet names too much ;) either because it quite literally diminishes the name of the person you are referring to. Diminutives diminish relations not increase them, at least those are my findings.

Being silly at the expense of being respectful, especially towards women, is something I personally do not stand for. I spoke my mind, even though it is terribly sober and being no fun, because I felt that the idea was silly on many levels.

Schroedes13's avatar

@everephebe I don’t understand get the question “Why would I do this?”

everephebe's avatar

Honestly though would you prefer to be called broski-schroes or your by your first name? Maybe my own preference biases me.

Schroedes13's avatar

@everephebe In all honesty, it doesn’t matter to me. If someone wants to call me Brosephus, instead of Kyle, I don’t mind one bit. If it’s a witty term from the Brocabulary, I’ll laugh and give them some encouragement from it too.

everephebe's avatar

If your plan is to purposely be disrespectful towards women then you’re golden but otherwise I personally think it’s a terrible idea to refer to any woman alive or dead as bro-____ anything. And I suppose here is where we agree to disagree.

I’ll shut up now and stop spoiling your thread and go back to reading my feminist literature. Sorry just my $0.02.

Schroedes13's avatar

@everephebe I’m guessing you also believe in double standards when testing for females for firefighting and military jobs too?

MacBatman31's avatar

Brominist! That’s a good one!

everephebe's avatar

@Schroedes13 actually no, I don’t.

Schroedes13's avatar

@everephebe Good. Then we can still continue an amicable relationship!

Schroedes13's avatar

BROCAHONTAS!!! YES!

JLeslie's avatar

Girl.

Hey girl, whasssuuppp?!

Or,

Girrrrllll, did you hear about Melissa?

But, if you are white, you might not be able to use it with black women. If your friends tend to be offended by terms that they thing degrade women, chick, girl, hun, sweetie, then no good. Even women who don’t mind these sort of terms still might get offended if girl is used innappropriately.

Blackberry's avatar

@JLeslie Totally uninformed lol.

JLeslie's avatar

I think Broette is the most obvious.

Blackberry's avatar

@JLeslie Oh snap! Go JBroette :D

JLeslie's avatar

@Blackberry I still say girl makes more sense. LOL.

Blackberry's avatar

@JLeslie Check out this bromance between two bros from this clip. You gotta get creative lol.

Brolita
Brosie
Brona Lisa
Broprah (?!?)

mazingerz88's avatar

Brodee
Shiskabro
Brodette

JLeslie's avatar

@mazingerz88 Did you mean shiksabro? That one is really good. I like the yiddish.

mazingerz88's avatar

@JLeslie Lol. I wish I could say yes but I was thinking of sister to siskabro to shiskabro which is close to shiskabob! What does shiksabro means in Yiddish? Hope it’s not something cockamamie. Lol.

JLeslie's avatar

Shiksa mean nonjewish girl.

Shaynabro would be nicer, that is what I was thinking when I saw your post, but for some reason in the moment I confused the two. Shayna is beautiful girl.

mazingerz88's avatar

@JLeslie Oh, Shaynabro is perfect, cute and girls would love to hear it. You’re my shaynabro!

Aethelflaed's avatar

@everephebe It’s a How I Met Your Mother thing. I mean, yeah, it’s definitely more of a frat house thing than something that would happen at Ms. Magazine, but… Point is, I think this is just supposed to be silly fun, not a serious thing. By the time you get to be close enough to a woman (or a man, for that matter) for them to be your bro, you’d know if they were cool with it, or going to kick you in the shin under the table.

Brosephina. Robro Scherbrosky.

everephebe's avatar

@Aethelflaed I didn’t know that in the beginning. @Schroedes13 and I PMed. He told me that, and then I understood. It’s all good. I still don’t recommend it but now that I understand the context I am less of a sourpuss-bro and spoilsport-bro.

How about Broella?

jonsblond's avatar

Brosie O’Donnell?

AshLeigh's avatar

How the heck is “Bro” a term of endearment? It’s short for Brother… Is brother a term of endearment now too? :P

Aethelflaed's avatar

@AshLeigh Because it’s used on friends whom you aren’t actually related to, but are so close to and so fond of that they’re like family to you.

boxer3's avatar

This doesnt answer the question, but:

One of my good guy friends started dating my sister on the low-
when another one of my younger, but good guy friends got word-
he said, “oh man, that’s crazy…..that’s totally breaking bro code. ... because I mean technically, you’re a bro. know what I mean? damn. ”

and when I was in highschool I’d attend bro night, so @schroedes13, I get where you’re coming from, but I’ve got no witty names to add :(
haha.

Schroedes13's avatar

@boxer3 That’s ok. I enjoyed your story nonetheless!

Berserker's avatar

I just use sistah.

But in following what you ask…chickybro?
