I think the answer is yes. What are some possible solutions? Why have people become so negative? How can we make American’s have a more positive attitude?

I think they are.

Unfortunately, I can’t access that blog in my IPad. I however tend to agree that irrationality and emotion play a big part in the country’s economic problem. A lot of possible solutions whether we like it or not are complicatedly math based. And our leaders who are politicians are ill served if they try to explain it to voters. They always go for simple and powerful sloganeering to gain support. They could not go gray but always in absolutes. And this results in more emotions than rationality in dealing with the issues. IMO.

I think @bob and @Mariah in tandem with the CBO would do better explaining how to attempt and balance the deficit for us than most run of the mill politicians out there.

I see it more as a narcissistic sense of entitlement.
Sure, we all have basic needs, and wanting is fine, having the cash to enjoy life is nice, but…no one promised us a rose garden either.

I have taken a big hit in this economy the last 2 years especially. My savings is down, my work has been slow, but, I am still happy!

My days of random shopping sprees and pretty much buying, doing, whatever I wanted have come to a halt. I have been conserving cash and gas for months now and I have adapted just fine.

I feel grateful that while I have enjoyed some of the finer things in life I am also highly adaptable and accepting of the ’ easy come, easy go’ of life situations.

I can have just as much fun playing around my house, in my yard, as I can doing anything else.

I waste of time crying over spilt milk or chewing on sour grapes.
I just do what needs to be done to adapt, and DO IT! ;-)

Chronic whiney ass people have been whining long before the economy took a dump, it’s WHAT they DO! lol

I truly think that while we can train our minds to be more positive, that a lot of peoples attitudes are hardwired by their innate temperaments.

As an extroverted personality I naturally tend towards a more positive and cheerful outlook regardless of circumstance. I have a ” it is what it is” outlook and focus on what’s right and good over what’s bad and wrong.

Yes very much so! It is so easy to be part of the problem but when the time comes to be part of the solution many are deer in headlights or in denial they had any role in sinking out economic ship.

Time to restore more power to each state to have greater individual control over it’s constituents so there is less of a need for a bloated ineffective Federal Government that obviously is too big to know what the right hand versus the left hand is doing!
