I want to import from a DVD my copy of Red dwarf so I can watch it on the go but I’m not sure how to import it and split it for each episode.

You can also user RealPlayer to convert the DVD video to any format you wish.

My practical need for this was similar:
My daughter had a favorite movie that she would fall asleep to years ago (Eloise). So after burning out DVD players I did a few things.
First I ripped it to her ipod. Second I ripped just the audio so she could play it for just the sound. It still comes in handy on those “bad dream” nights.

@XOIIO yes. Nero, dvd fab, realplayer, etc, etc all support slicing and dicing

I use handbrake. After you’ve selected the DVD there’s a drop down box called titles that lists all the seperate videos on the disc. You need to look out for titles that are about the length of the program (30 mins in this case). Then you can encode each one sperately giving them names like “episode 1”, “episode 2” etc. You can also queue up the encodes so that you can leave the computer doing the work while you’re asleep.
