The T is silent, as in fox.

Official answer: The first two answers are correct. Though you might just as well pronounce it “ad·dic·tive”.

I don’t like it. anyone else feel this way?

@woodcutter You don’t like what? The name, the pronunciation, the site itself, or the addictiveness? ;)

The name, I don’t know, it’s hard to say it out loud. And the “jellies” thing. In my life’s roaming’s a “jelly” is someone who has all but lobotomized themselves from years of ravaging drug abuse. Every other aspect of it all is peachy besides that name….that name.

@woodcutter Relax. Fluther is the collective name for jellyfish. It’s just part of the organizational gimmick of this site. It could have been Pride and we could all be lions or Pod and we’d be whales. Go with the flow, man. And enjoy.

But are jellyfish smart?

zensky's avatar

Rhymes with rumpelstiltskin.

XOIIO's avatar

Oh man that’s a really bad metaphor, like we are being lobotomized by Fluther lol

@woodcutter Jellyfish are an intelligent and complex species, much like, well, just about any living organism on earth. Dude, have fun. I’d rather be a dangerous jellyfish as our mascot than being on Yahoo answers, or some lame broke down forum. Haha, thats for sure.

woodcutter's avatar

Oh I’m having fun not to worry. I would be doing something else if I weren’t. The name was thoughtfully debated way back in the beginning of all this I’m sure so I hope I’m not pissing in anyone’s cheerios really. Its just a weird name, unique…but weird.

dreamwolf's avatar

@woodcutter Yeah I know what you mean :D

El_Cadejo's avatar

@woodcutter its not so much the intelligence thing of jellyfish being as they have no brain, but more the nerve net hive mind thing that gives fluther its name.

@uberbatman I don’t think that helped us much;)
