Have you heard that researchers are working on self repairing computer chips?

This has the potential to cut the cost of many things. It could make electric cars more affordable.
I favor batteries and chips that could cut down on all the waste humanity produces. It would be great if, we could recycle or keep using chips and batteries.

I work in chip design, we’ve had a form of self repair for many years, for example in a “ram” extra, normally non used cells are included, the ram has a self test function and when it detects that a bit of it is not performing it will automatically configure the sick cells out and healthy cells in, naturally this is limited by the amount of spares you included in the first place but in reality works very well and saves what is essentially a good chip from becoming garbage.

This sounds like a great idea because it means less goes into the dump.
At my son’s former school they had a program to teach students how to recycle Electronics. To me all these type of things make sense.
