Anyone of Fluther remember GlassWax?

Asked by john65pennington (29258points) January 4th, 2012

GlassWax was some of the best window glass cleaner made. It would cut the grease off of glass, when nothing else would. It came in a pink and black can and Krogers use to carry it. I am looking for a can of GlassWax to clean some glass that Maggie(my Great Pyreneese dog)has completely covered it in mud and grease. Question: does anyone on Fluther know where I can still purchase a can of GlassWax?

This product claims to have the same results as Glass Wax, but I can’t seem to find the original product.

Edit: I did some more research, and I have found a couple of people who state that Gel-Gloss is just as good, if not better.

Gold Seal Glass Wax (the good old glass wax) has been discontinued sadly. My Grandpa had some I remember and it was excellent to say the least. However there are some other decent similar products that you can get in stores such as Rain X or No Streek (which claims to be the same formula as the good old Glass Wax). Rain X I think you can find in wal mart where as No Streek tends to be in True Value hardware stores. If you have a local old hardware store however, you might be lucky in finding some good old Gold Seal Glass Wax.

I do. We made snowflakes and other Christmas designs on the windows with it. Same stuff, right? My siblings and I were totally entranced by the TV commercials and high-pressured our parents into getting it for us, just as we were meant to do.

If it’s discontinued, then you could try a place like Amazon or Ebay I guess. Depending on how long the product can be kept, and if someone had the idea of selling it. But people sell anything on those places, so…there might be some places that specialize in this type of stuff. You could order it from them, if they carry it. No clue how or where to find such places, though. :/
But even if you don’t find it, how hard can it be to clean mud from a window, even if it’s carrying an impressive amount of it? I’m sure plenty of modern cleaning products could do the job.

Smitty’s GlassWax on eBay with Coinboy and Miracle Cloth for $19.99… 17hrs left with no bids. Appears not many remember the classics.

I thought you were about to talk out of policy about a former fluther named GlassWax and I was about to smear you to the site cops.
