Why is outlook.pst file missing from desktop search?

Asked by victord66 (201points) January 26th, 2012

I am using windows xp desktop search. I just noticed though that the outlook.pst file doesn’t show up when I search for it. I was looking for the complete path and just used the search feature to search for it, and it doesn’t show up. I checked the indexed drives and folders and it is in one of them. Why wouldn’t it show up?

Because Microsoft desktop search is a schlock product.

If you were to use a real search application (like Agent Ransack) it would find it right away.
